The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Program Administrator acts as the primary liaison between the SOA Writing Program and the School of Professional Studies. Assists faculty and staff to plan the Pre-College Creative Writing curriculum and course offerings, and facilitates the selection of instructors. Facilitates the operations and workflow logistics of the Pre-College Program for 35 hours per week for the period June to mid- August, and for 20 hours per week during the academic year. For the remaining 15 hours per week, from mid-August ??? May, the incumbent assists the SOA Director of Undergraduate Studies and faculty advisors with a variety of administrative duties in consultation with SOA???s Director of Academic Administration for the Writing Program (DAA). Duties vary and require independent judgement and occasional corrective actions.

Responsibilities

Pre-College Creative Writing Program and other SPS Duties (approximately 20 hr/wk): Under the direction of the DAA and in consultation with faculty in the Writing Program, reviews all Pre-College Creative Writing classes and facilitates the development of associated curricula for each session of the Academic Year.

• In partnership with SOA faculty and SPS, evaluates current educational trends and data to determine course programming. Moves any new class pitches and course proposals through the Pre-College Committee on Instruction (COI) with an SOA faculty representative serving as COI instructor advocate. Participates in all SPS Pre-College COI meetings as a non-voting member.
• In collaboration with SPS's Senior Director of Instruction and Curriculum for Pre-College Programs, and SOA faculty, works to secure eligible instructors for SOA writing courses by the applicable deadlines. Ensures all instructors complete the hiring process within the timeline provided by SPS, including Protection of Minors requirements.
• Organizes pedagogical support for instructors in consultation with SOA faculty as needed. This support includes reviewing and offering feedback on syllabi drafts and lesson plans in accordance with SPS policies. Guarantees that all appointed instructors utilize the SPS syllabus and follow submission guidelines established by the Pre-College Program.

After a session has ended, reviews evaluations and strategizes with SOA faculty and SPS to determine changes for future terms.

• Ensures all administrators and/or faculty involved with decisions regarding the Pre-College program attend scheduled meetings with SPS and adhere to academic governance policies established by SPS. This includes (but is not limited to) attending Orientation, Committee on Instruction meetings and other planning meetings as directed by the Senior Director.
• Encourages and facilitates the development of new course ideas and proposals. Completes a competitor analysis for SoA faculty and SPS staff to consider new course trends and marketing opportunities.
• In collaboration with administrators and faculty at SPS and SOA, plan and support the living and learning communities for visiting students and CU students during the Summer Session.
• Performs other related duties for the Pre-College Program and SPS as assigned/required.

Undergraduate Creative Writing Duties (approximately 15 hours per week): Provides the Director of Undergraduate Studies and faculty advisors with various administrative operations. Duties vary and require independent judgment and occasional corrective actions when needed. Tasks include but are not be limited to:

• Plans and attends faculty and student orientation and information sessions; Prepares for and schedules faculty meetings; Organizes and supervises co-curricular activities.
• Refers students to appropriate ???CC, ???GS, and other University services and support; Responds to inquiries from students, as well as part-time and full-time faculty, and academic advisors.
• Assists with course scheduling.
• Coordinates faculty selection of student awards.
• Maintains current information on the website and in related materials.

June ??? Mid-August

Under the direction of the DAA and in consultation with the Senior Director of Instruction and Curriculum (SPS), assists in the execution of all Creative Writing offerings within SPS.

• Collaborates with SPS admin and Student Affairs to provide support on instructional challenges with students, and seeks advice from SoA faculty as needed to resolve specific situations.
• Consults with DAA, faculty advisors, SPS's Senior Director of Instruction and Curriculum for Pre-College Programs, and additional constituents in order to connect faculty and students with appropriate University services and support.
• Organizes production of coursebooks and material support for classes, such as???but not limited???to copies and course supplies. Collaborates with SPS to provide a service office for instructors for supplies and printing needs and manage any associated temporary staff required to perform these duties.
• Secures classroom spaces for course offerings and manages facilities related concerns in association with the DAA and the Office of the Registrar.
• Upon availability, organizes co-curricular activities, such as???but not limited to???collections of student work and/or cohort readings.
• On call for SOA instructors, including nights and weekends, for emergencies that may arise.
• Performs other related duties as assigned/required.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.A. required; M.F.A in Writing or equivalent preferred.
• 2-4 years of related experience required, preferably in an educational setting.
• Demonstrated superior interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Excellent writing and editing skills required.
• Must be able to work on concurrent projects and multiple deadlines with minimum supervision.
• The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with all of the components of academic administration, interview scheduling, supporting faculty while they supervise curricular development, supporting graduate-student instructors along with a pool of seasoned returning instructors to deliver instruction, troubleshooting and connecting constituents with appropriate resources as needed.
