Summary

The Operations Manager for Flex is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily activities of FLEX team members within a designated zone. This position focuses on problem-solving, key system updates, daily metrics, and achieving revenue and profitability goals. This role is crucial to managing daily operations, ensuring that metrics and processes adhere to standards and do not revert to unsupported activities or outdated methods within our TMS. There are several action points to ensure adequate staffing with responsibility to keep up with staffing needs and initiating the conversation with recruiting. This role will be emphasizing a balance of operational, analytical, interpersonal, and leadership competencies focused on continuous improvement and adherence to established processes contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

Essential Functions

  • Operational Understanding: Understand the Ops Box structure and the metrics within it, along with proficiency in Ryder TMS systems. Identify and/or solve operational issues with the account(s) by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity, and results.
  • Standard Work Adherence: Collaborate with Driver Managers, Equipment Managers, Planning, and Customer Service Representatives to ensure adherence to standard work and the use of field guides.
  • Data Integrity Review: Conduct daily reviews with the entire team in the zone to report and correct missing data. Confirm the integrity of data functions effectively.
  • Operational Support: Provide support for any escalated customer or driver issues, demonstrating a commitment to excellent service. Ensure adequate staffing with responsibility to keep up with staffing needs and initiating the conversation with recruiting.
  • Team Support and Coaching: Offer support and coaching to the team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Issue Resolution: Assign responsible parties to documented misses for investigation and resolution, ensuring timely and effective problem-solving.

  • Operational Oversight: Ability to manage daily operations effectively, ensuring adherence to metrics, standards, and preventing the reversion to unsupported or outdated methods within the Transportation Management System (TMS). Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma/GED, Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration/Management, Communication, or Transportation/Logistics, Preferred
  • 3 years or more in Proven experience in Transportation/Logistics industry) in relevant roles, Preferred
  • 5 years or more in Leading and supervising others, Preferred
  • 3 years or more in Profit & Loss responsibility preferred, Preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Products. Intermediate, Required
  • Knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry Intermediate, Required

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc.

Compensation ranges for the position are below:

Pay Type :

Salaried

Minimum Pay Range:

80k

Maximum Pay Range:

90k

The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type.
