Job Overview:
The Phlebotomist Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the processing and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders, ensuring minimal patient impact. This role includes collecting specimens from patients of all age groups, verifying patient and specimen identification, and ensuring the appropriateness of specimens and accompanying orders. The Team Lead organizes the daily workflow in the Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing sections of the Clinical Laboratory, schedules staff assignments, and monitors specimen collection.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing sections.
• Schedule and assign staff for daily tasks, ensuring efficient workflow.
• Provide training and education for staff, maintaining compliance with laboratory standards and accrediting agencies.
• Verify patient and specimen identification, ensuring proper specimen collection and processing.
• Represent the laboratory to hospital customers, ensuring effective communication and service.
• Assist with annual and introductory performance appraisals for assigned staff.
• Support the supervisor in Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
• Contribute to writing and updating laboratory procedures.
• Work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Licensure:

• Phlebotomy certification required within 6 months of hire.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from a Phlebotomy program required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Phlebotomist and in Clinical Laboratory Specimen Processing required.
• Experience in a multi-hospital healthcare system preferred.

Shift:

• Evening shift, 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Salary:

• $22-$25/hour
