Description
The Repair Process Engineer is responsible to develop, implement, and improve processes using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques, as well as create process control documents to support all production functions. You must also deploy established documents to ensure consistent, reliable and high-quality level product within economic constraints. Must apply "hands on", "roll up your sleeves" on the floor experience to deploy efficient and capable processes to various processes such as high model mix electronic repair and assembly, forward/reverse logistic and liquidation processes in response to business requirements. The role will setup a repair process and equipment for cell phone devices. The repair process will involve inspection, part replacement, refurbishment, software upgrades and final testing.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
- Process Development for Repair of Cell phone devices
- Implement and maintain repair process for cell phone devices
- The processes are inspection, testing, replacement of major components, correct tools to perform repairs and a process setup for the store room with the spare parts
- Work with the operations team and quality group to make sure the repair process supports customer requirements
- Develop work instructions for the process and process flow charts
- Develop layouts in AutoCad for the area
- Implement and support cell phone repair certification for Apple, Samsung, and Motorola
- Process Improvement/Review
- Implement improvements for the process that will reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction
- Lead/participate in lean/six sigma process improvement initiatives, Kaizen events, and Value Stream Mapping
- Support manufacturing operations with regards to device failure validation, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation
- Improve the yield on repaired phones quarterly
- Strong Lean manufacturing experience with the proven ability to implement and teach Lean concepts such as single piece flow manufacturing, Kanban material replenishment, Heijunka schedule planning, Takt time/cycle time work element analysis and line balancing, etc.
- Design and develop fixturing/tooling to drive process efficiencies
- Process/manufacturing facility layout designs to maximize throughput, yields, and quality
- Collaborate with plant and leadership team, customers, suppliers, and production floor personnel to identify and facilitate projects to improve key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Perform time studies and work on reducing time for repairs
- Lead improvement teams for the area
- The role will lead the meetings, update a weekly punch list and track overall improvements to the operations metrics
- Train operators on repair process
- Support any process issues that are escalated or identified on the floor so the repair area can continue to repair phones
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, & Excel) for purpose of editing, revising, and creating production documentation and process analysis
- Coordinate with Assurant QA and Materials associates to address line impacting component escalations and determine alternate source components
- Perform root cause failure analysis on repair process failures
- Actively identify & pursue Lean process improvement initiatives
What are the requirements needed for this position?
- Associates/Technical Degree with a minimum of 6+ years of experience or 8+ years of direct experience in Process Engineering activities described job responsibilities section
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent or 7+ years of active experience in Process Engineering activities described in job responsibilities section
- Six Sigma Black belt
- Automation and equipment line balancing & sustainment experience
- Simulation experience with a simulation program
- Work from complex Schematic, layouts, and diagrams
- Work with Customers and other Organization Groups to document / develop process requirements
- Experience with Minitab, Visio, Adobe Pro, and AutoCAD
- Actively identify & pursue process improvement initiatives resulting in decreased CPU
- Strong focus with continuous process improvement (CPI)
- Experience in a reverse logistics environment
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced, dynamic assembly and logistics environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to exercise influence without authority
- Prior Innovation and Automation Experience
