Position Summary

The Product Manager, In-House/On-Demand, serves as a champion for the development and production of in-house goods and components, including books, notepads, stationery, and other paper products. This role bridges the gap between product development, design, sourcing, and production, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables that meet strategic objectives. The ideal candidate excels in project management, vendor coordination, and problem-solving while maintaining a collaborative and innovative mindset. This is an on site position at our Austin, Texas, location in NE Austin.

Key Responsibilities

In-House Goods Product Champion

  • Includes books, notepads, stationery, and other paper products produced in-house
  • Own the product lifecycle for assigned products by managing initial specifications, sample comments, costing, and confirmed specs in PAT and Asana
  • Drive the development process to ensure product deliverables are met in collaboration with cross-functional support teams
  • Maintain and adjust timelines for project milestones, including initial Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), schedule shifts, and launch dates
  • Input and review T-Deck specifications for champion products before final presentations
  • Coordinate packaging needs and advise when production should transition to a domestic vendor instead of in-house
  • Provide support and guidance to team members by addressing product-related questions and concerns
  • Communicate product launch details to production team

Domestic and Overseas Components Product Champion

  • Manage the end-to-end process for domestic products and components, including sample review, costing, sourcing plans, and production timelines
  • Strategically source components by negotiating cost and delivery timeframes while solving production or sourcing challenges creatively
  • Educate product development, design, and merchant teams on supplier capabilities and limitations
  • Develop, monitor, and refine Quality Control (QC) standards and testing protocols for domestic and imported products
  • Address quality issues for certain overseas products and components, ensuring resolution
  • Maintain accurate and updated records in PAT and Asana for assigned products, ensuring deliverables are met
  • Collaborate with the PM to manage and maintain product timelines, including WBS, schedule adjustments, and launch dates
  • Input and conduct final reviews of T-Deck specifications for champion products before presentations

Wholesale Support for In-House Goods and Components

  • Partner with project owners to develop strategies and request vendor pricing, including preliminary pricing and cost negotiations
  • Collaborate with vendors to rebuild product specifications to align with pricing goals and strategic targets
  • Oversee initial specifications, sample comments, and confirmed specs in PAT and Asana for assigned products
  • Manage project timelines and adjust schedules in PAT and Asana to align with business objectives
  • Coordinate with the design team to provide packaging templates, detailed requirements, and production specs
  • Analyze packaging needs and determine appropriate production sources. Submit finalized packaging files and instruct production teams on application

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Product Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, sourcing, or manufacturing, with a focus on domestic and international goods
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools like PAT and Asana
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience negotiating costs and timelines with vendors
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across design, production, and merchant teams
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and testing protocols is a plus
